Thanksgiving and the real meaning of the Day

I was talking to my step-daughter Megan on Thanksgiving and was joking that it was a day for food, family and football (Megan doesn't watch, understand or like football) and that this was a day to recognize the one truly American sport of football and not that European version known as soccer.
The conversation was all in fun.
I am thankful that I get to share a little of Megan's life and her addition in my life is a treasure. She is my daughter now and I am the proud parent of two beautiful young ladies and their wonderful families and I am thankful for them.
I failed to say to Megan that Thanksgiving is a recognized holiday when we as Americans express our thanks to GOD and his divine providence. It is His providence and not luck that has made us a great nation. It is, has and hopefully will always be a day when we as a nation pause and reflect on the Almighty and breathe a prayer of Thanksgiving.
We do have so many reasons to be thankful.
